🛼Who:
Anyone 18 years and over with prior skating experience (roller derby preferred but not necessary). SMRD Training will run skaters through safety and skate skills of Level One (skating form, stops, transitions, etc). Sign up & pay prior to the event for a complete list of what and how we are assessing.
💜Cost: $15 per skater/ standard drop-in rate (Pay via paypal treasurer@somdrollerderby.org or in cash/check on day of event.
🖤Requirements:
Must be 18 or older. There is no age cap. Must be in good health, have no COVID symptoms, and sign liability waiver prior to event. Masks are optional. Primary medical insurance is mandatory for all skaters and referees. Bring your government photo ID and primary insurance card.
💜Mandatory gear:
Helmet
Mouth guard
Wrist guards, elbow and knee pads
Quad speed skates (Referees may use inline skates)
🖤Optional Gear
Butt pads
Tailbone guard
Shin guards
Water or sports drinks and snacks to refuel.
💜SMRD has a limited supply of loaner gear. Please DM us ASAP if you need something.
Additional Helpful Information
Wear tennis shoes and athletic clothing (long pants, leggings or tights are recommended to avoid rink rash).
